WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Treasury added three prime Hezbollah figures to its checklist of sanctioned people on Tuesday, together with two members of the Lebanese Parliament and a safety official liable for coordinating between Hezbollah and Lebanon’s safety companies.

The designations have been a part of U.S. efforts to counter the Iranian-backed Hezbollah’s “corrupting affect in Lebanon,” U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo mentioned in an announcement.
