WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Senator Kamala Harris on Thursday pledged the nation’s backlog of rape kits needing evaluation can be processed by the top of her first four-year time period if elected president.
Harris estimated she would make investments $1 billion to get rid of the backlog, which she mentioned would cowl an estimated 225,000 kits that stay untested.
