NEW YORK (Reuters) – Diahann Carroll, a flexible singer and stage actress who quietly blazed a path for black ladies on American tv within the late 1960s by taking part in a widowed nurse and single mom in “Julia”, died on Friday at age 84, her supervisor stated.

She had been affected by most cancers and died in her sleep at house in Los Angeles along with her daughter by her aspect, her supervisor, Brian Panella, stated by telephone.

“She had been preventing it for fairly a while, and didn’t need the world to know,” stated Panella who had managed her profession for 20 years.
